Hopelessly Sarcastic: Paris London Tokyo?

I suggest Paris because that's where I would move. LOL. I dig London as well. Tokyo? Nah, not really interested if I have to leave the country. There are alot of Black bloggers/expats living in Europe, you should check them out.

I love the music scene in London but the weather is crap and it's expensive. You know how I feel about France. Paris is costly too but you could also consider Brittany or smaller cities like Lyon. In the interest of convenience, have you considered Canada?

I also love the social safety net, support of the arts and natural beauty of the Scandinavian countries but it's really cold up there. And as friendly as the Swedes and Danes are, there aren't many black people.

And then there's Brazil, Bahia of course. You'd definitely have to leave MANY conveniences behind but you know what you'd be getting in return. Also, my ex-pat connect down there says that dating is very difficult, sadly enough. More on that on IM if you're curious.

And while we're at it, ever considered west Africa?

This is my first visit to your blog and as a Black woman who is equally cursed with the disease of wanderlust, I feel your pain. Both of my children spent their formative years overseas. My sons first language was German, so imagine the shock and horror of a black child in Louisiana who spoke no english (or French for that matter) but only German? My daughter speaks German as well but it was not her first language. I just came back from Jakarta, Indonesia and for the record they love Obama! For two weeks straight every newspaper was filled with articles about him. Everywhere I went Indonesians spoke so proudly about him and the fact that he lived there when he was young. But I digress. I think that you should look for a new home in the East Asia or Pacific region. The cost of living is relatively low, people of color are not anomalies (Papua New Guniea and other locations as well) and are treated with great respect (at least I was) the food is wonderful and the weather is divine. My two cents worth...
